Many rooms offer private terraces or balconies with lovely views of the sea or the inviting pool area. The outdoor spaces, including a sun terrace and garden, provide ample room for relaxation, while the seasonal outdoor swimming pool is a refreshing spot for all ages. Our take

Hotel SOL sits on Andrije Kačića Miošića street in Bol, about 100 metres from the seafront promenade and roughly 1.5 to 1.7 km, a 20-minute walk west under the pines, from Zlatni Rat. Its 36 rooms have kitchens and balconies over the sea or the pool, which makes it a self-catering base with hotel comforts: a lift, daily housekeeping and free parking. The outdoor pool is seasonal. I would book it for a week on Brač with the car left in the car park. Breakfast costs extra, and anyone wanting nightlife beyond Bol's harbour will find it quiet.

  • ✓Walk to Zlatni Rat along the pine-lined promenade rather than driving: it takes about 20 minutes, and the path is shaded most of the way.
  • ✓Come from Split on the Jadrolinija catamaran, line 9603, which lands in Bol itself; the car ferry goes to Supetar, on the other side of the island.
  • ✓Expect cancellations when the wind is up: Jadrolinija suspended a Split departure of the Bol catamaran on 13 October 2026 pending a new forecast.
  • ✓Drive up Vidova Gora, the highest point of all the Croatian islands, for the view straight down onto Zlatni Rat and across to Hvar.

Why we love it

  • Family rooms with kitchenettes for convenience
  • Terraces or balconies with sea or pool views
  • Seasonal outdoor swimming pool for relaxation
  • Delicious continental buffet breakfast with local options
Why guests love it

SOL works well for families who cook some of their own meals. Every room has a kitchen, family rooms are available, and balconies look over the sea or the pool, so small children can nap while parents sit outside. Zadruga beach is about 300 metres away and the long promenade leads to Zlatni Rat, a fine-pebble spit that is a protected nature reserve. The seasonal outdoor pool and garden fill the hottest afternoons. The drawbacks: breakfast is charged separately, and the channel wind that draws windsurfers to Bol also roughens the water on breezy days. I would choose it for a week in July or September.
